March 6, 2010

58 degrees in Springfield.  That is gardening weather!  First, a couple of updates.  Cat Grass....check! (Introducing Thomas the cat)
So far, we haven't found any of it puked back up.  Bonus.

Second, seedlings...check!

In bright sunshine, no less.  Gourds are still being shy, but I just checked them again and I see one starting to poke through.  We have a table out on the front enclosed porch, and they will all go on a field trip out there tomorrow for some more warmth and sun.

Third...before and after pics of what we did in the yard today.  Not too much, but its all forward progress, right?  Here is before.  One empty bed and one bed that has strawberry and lavender plants in it.

Then after:

You may notice the edge of a trailer in the after pic of the strawberry bed...we have to move that.  But its a start!

And the last pic of the day is just a funny.  The lawn and leaf bags are as big as Jack.  See?

Ami bought blueberry bushes today, and we have 2 more on order.  Need to cross pollinate, you know.  I think I am going to go get blackberry and raspberry bushes tomorrow.  We can trellis them right up along the fence.
